Lipitor Diabetes Lawsuit News

Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium), which is prescribed to patients with high cholesterol in order to prevent cardiovascular disease, increases the risk of developing Type II diabetes in some patients. Most notably, postmenopausal women who take Lipitor have a greatly heightened risk of developing diabetes. While Lipitor is prescribed to decrease a patient’s risk of heart problems, diabetes increases the risk of cardiovascular problems. The drug has not been recalled but the FDA did warn patients and medical professionals of the Lipitor diabetes risk during 2012. Lipitor belongs to a class of drugs known as statins. Statins are prescribed to more American patients than any other medication, with an estimated 25% of U.S. citizens over 45 taking them. Lipitor is the most common statin on the U.S. market. Lipitor diabetes lawyers are available to consult with persons who developed diabetes after taking Lipitor. This page provides links to recent Lipitor diabetes lawsuit news.
